    Stop guessing

Know the hours, not just the days.

A business days count tells you how many workdays you have. If you work on a computer, Voltti counts the real hours in those workdays for you, in every app and work website, with no timer to start or stop. Its monthly streak counts weekdays only, so a weekend off never breaks it.

    How it works

    How to count business days.

    1. Count the calendar days. Decide whether the end date counts. Most deadlines count the start date and stop the day before the end date. A task that runs through the last day includes it.
    2. Take out the weekends. Every full week has 5 weekdays and 2 weekend days. Count the Saturdays and Sundays in any part week by hand.
    3. Take out holidays that fall on weekdays. A holiday on a weekend is usually observed on the nearest weekday, so take out that day instead.

Worked example. November 1 to November 30, 2026, counting both dates, is 30 calendar days. November 1 is a Sunday, so the month has 5 Sundays and 4 Saturdays: 9 weekend days, which leaves 21 weekdays. Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11) and Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26) fall on weekdays, so take out 2 more. That gives 19 business days.

    Reference

US federal holidays, 2026 and 2027.

These are the days the calculator skips. When a holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed on the Friday before, and on a Sunday it is observed on the Monday after.

    FAQ

    Business days, answered.

    What is a business day?

A business day is any day from Monday to Friday that is not a public holiday. In the US that usually means weekdays other than the 11 federal holidays.

Does the calculator count the start date?

When counting days between two dates, the start date counts and the end date does not, unless you tick Include the end date. When adding business days, the count starts the day after your start date, so 1 business day after a Friday is the next Monday.

    Which holidays does it skip?

The 11 US federal holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. They're worked out by rule for any year. Untick Skip US federal holidays to count them as normal weekdays.

What happens when a holiday falls on a weekend?

The calculator uses the federal rule. A holiday on a Saturday is observed on the Friday before, and a holiday on a Sunday is observed on the Monday after. Your employer or state may follow different rules.

How do I add business days to a date?

Pick Add or subtract days, choose a start date and enter the number of business days. The calculator steps forward or back one day at a time, skipping weekends and holidays, and shows the date you land on.

    Is my data saved anywhere?

Your dates stay in your browser so they're still there when you come back. Nothing is sent to a server.

Is there a way to track my hours automatically?

If you work on a computer, yes. Voltti for Mac and Voltti for Windows record every real minute in your apps and work websites, with no timer to start or stop. The free plan includes automatic tracking.
