Turn 7 hours 45 minutes into 7.75 hours for a timesheet, payroll or an invoice. Round to the nearest quarter hour, or turn decimal hours back into hours and minutes. No signup.
Converting minutes is easy. Knowing how many minutes you worked is the hard part. If you work on a computer, Voltti counts your real minutes in each app on Mac and Windows, with no timer to start or stop, and turns them into invoices your clients can verify. With Voltti Teams, a team lead or client sees who is working now and pays for real hours at each person's own rate.
Example: you worked 8 hours 50 minutes and bill $40 an hour. 50 ÷ 60 = 0.83, so you worked 8.83 hours and the invoice line is 8.83 × $40 = $353.20. Rounded to the nearest quarter hour, 8 hours 50 minutes becomes 8.75 hours.
A common mistake is to write 8 hours 50 minutes as 8.50. That is 8 and a half hours, which is 8 hours 30 minutes. To add up start and end times for a whole week first, use the work hours calculator, which also shows decimal hours.
Every minute from 1 to 60 as decimal hours, rounded to two places.

Divide the minutes by 60. 15 minutes is 0.25 hours, 30 minutes is 0.5 hours and 20 minutes is 0.33 hours. The chart above lists every minute from 1 to 60.
7.75 hours. 45 minutes divided by 60 is 0.75, plus the 7 whole hours.
Keep the whole number as hours, then multiply the decimal part by 60 for the minutes. 6.2 hours is 6 hours and 0.2 × 60 = 12 minutes. Switch to Decimal to time above to do it for you.
Decimal hours count parts of 60 minutes, not parts of 100. 10 minutes is one sixth of an hour, which is 0.1667, or 0.17 rounded to two places.
Time is rounded to the nearest 15 minutes, often called the 7-minute rule. 1 to 7 minutes past a quarter hour round down and 8 to 14 minutes round up. 8 hours 7 minutes becomes 8.00 hours and 8 hours 8 minutes becomes 8.25 hours. Check your employer's own policy, since rounding rules can differ.
